There are museums and monuments on every corner, amazing food and drinks, and all kinds of fun events going on throughout the year. From a trip to the Library of Congress to a day at the ballpark, Washington, D.C. has it all!

When you think of D.C., you can’t help but think of politicians. After all, every election cycle, candidates accuse each other of being Washington “insiders”. However, that’s not always such a bad thing. When you’re “inside” the nation’s capital, make sure to explore Capitol Hill. Beautiful architecture from the days of the founding fathers line the national mall, while national monuments like The Jefferson, Lincoln, and Washington memorials hover on the outskirts of The Hill. Just across the Potomac River lies The Arlington National Cemetery, the final resting place for great patriots like The Unknown Soldier, President Taft, and President Kennedy.

Back in the city, you’ll want to check out some of the amazing museums. The standout in this category is The Smithsonian. This museum is regarded as the best historic preservation museum in the country and boasts a massive collection of our nation’s cultural history. Check out the folk music section, Charles Lindbergh’s airplane (The Spirit of St. Louis), as well as their amazing collection from the space program. Next head over to The Spy Museum to have fun with exhibits of top secret inventions like spy cameras, a safe cracking exhibit, and much more.

When you get hungry, the options in D.C. are endless! Check out Blue Coat Brewery for over 100 beers on tap (all brewed in house!) and some delicious food to pair with them. Hank’s Oyster Bar in Dupont Circle is just a few blocks from Capitol Hill and offers amazing oysters from the Chesapeake Bay and all over the country. You can walk there from Capitol Hill, but it’s quite the trek, instead use Ridester and make the commute with no stress! For a more intimate and unique experience, look up Rogue 24.
